There are a few exceptions: National was one of a few companies that used a true 1 3/8" standard spacing instead of the 35mm found on most six stringed guatars -although many web sites say that the two dimensions are interchangable, they are not (as anyone installing 35mm spaced tuners on an old National will know). I even have a Mark V with 37mm centers and Gotoh makes classical machines with 39mm centers (I do not know whom for).Īlmost all tuners are metric since, originally, they all came from Europe.
